Head of Growth Marketing @ Typeform | CEO @ Papora | Growth Marketing Expert
Need creative ways to grow your startup? I have first hand experience working in many startups employing various growth tactics over the full AARRR funnel: Acquisition, Activation, Revenue, Referral, Retention.
I have managed and led multi-million ad budgets for different companies in different verticals investing in different areas such as Paid Search (Google & Bing), Paid Social (FB, LinkedIn, etc), Native (Taboola/Outbrain) and other programmatic/display channels (GDN, YouTube, Quora, BuySellAds etc). I can help you dig into what isn't working, find opportunities and formulate strategies and tactics to seriously make a big dent in your paid marketing growth.
I self-taught myself SEO back in 2009. Since then I have grown SEO channels of brands such as Typeform from 0 visits per month to generating millions in revenue per year. I have experience with both large and small websites: international SEO, technical SEO, content marketing strategies, off-page & on-page SEO tactics, etc. I will help you take your SEO to the next level of growth.
I have analysed dozens of website funnels and ran hundreds of experiments to improve the conversion rates at different parts of the funnel: from landing pages to increase lead gen or sign up rates ... to email subject line A/B testing ... to in-product CRO to boost activation rates ... and checkout page funnel flow optimisations to increase revenue.
I built my own ed-tech SaaS company from scratch and have built several tools to automate processes ... as well as productivity - I founded www.gopomodoro.com to scratch my own itch. I also have experience with many tools and technologies (see below)
Link building is not only essential for increasing rankings, it carries many other benefits such as building critical relationships. I have experience doing link building myself and also working with freelance link builders to scale it operationally. I can teach you not only how to effectively build links, but of how to get more than just links (the other "hidden" benefits)
I bootstrapped my own startup growing it to 150,000+ users. How did I do it? It all started with my obsession with creating websites .... and a single Google Ads voucher for $75 worth of advertising credit. Book a call and I'll tell you how I did it :-)
Do you feel like you're not able to move the needle, and no matter what you try things just don't seem to be working out the way you planned them? Failing is learning and I have failed more than I'd like to admit! And if you're stuck in the same place, I can give you advice to get things moving.
I built my own product from scratch and scaled it to 150,000+, and that didn't happen by chance. I've also worked with dev teams in startups using Scrum and I can show you how to get close to your customers creating continuous feedback loops to inform your product strategy.
The difference between yourself and someone successful could simply be your mindset and the way you think and approach problems. Let's chat and I can coach you on how to think in order to grow a successful startup.
I've been using Drift with my own startup to gather invaluable questions from my users on key landing pages. I took the feedback, quantified it, and then improved my landing pages and doubled my conversion rates!
I have used Moz to set up SEO campaigns, do keyword research, analyse on-page data to improve SEO, etc. I also once attended Mozcon in Seattle :-) ... ...
I've been using Google Webmaster tools for several years. If you need help analysing data ... or even extracting it to build dashboards I can help you achieve that .. as well as looking into other things such as website penalisations.
I used Google Data Studio to make multiple dashboard from multiple connectors such as GA, Google Sheets, GSC. It's the best dashboarding tool I know. I can help you make effective dashboards in Data Studio from multiple connectors including Sheets + Databases.

I have managed AdWords with yearly budgets north of > 3M and scaled it for many successful client. Search is one of your most important customer acquisition channels and I can help you scale it efficiently with a positive ROI.
I have ran Bing ads with low budgets (around $30k per month) and understand the differences between Bing and Google Ads. Did you know 30% of the US population use Bing? And you can tap into Yahoo and other search engines through it? It's a place you must be on in 2018 ... although the demographics are slightly different and you need to tailor your approach to them.
I've ran Facebook ads in-house in brands, for clients and for my own company. I've also been to Facebook HQ to be trained on Facebook ads by Facebook themselves and worked with multiple FB account managers. I have spent north of $1M on Facebook ads and understand their algorithm for both DR and brand advertising ... as well as building a solid funnel. I've also managed to achieve 1 cent clicks in 2018 which people thought was long dead! But it is still possible building the correct "bridges".
I've dabbled in LinkedIn ads with small budgets (e.g. €5k) to target high intent and laser targeted audiences to generate leads to pass on to sales teams using gated content.
I have dabbled in Quora with small budgets (e.g. €1k) for both retargeting and prospecting campaigns and have learned some Quora ad growth hacks along the way.
I've used BuySellAds on multiple occasions to buy ad inventory for designer, business & dev audiences and was able to increase CTR on the creatives by north of 50%
I've used Instapage to create landing pages for PPC campaigns on AdWords/FB ads for both generating signups to freemium & premium products ... as well as for lead gen
I've used ClickFunnels to make sales funnels and also membership websites with order bumps, up sells, down sells, etc. connecting up with Stripe to receive subscription payments
I've been using Trello as a Kanban & Scrum system for managing both team dynamics and also my own personal backlog of to-dos to effectively scale teams & manage my time effectively.
At Typeform we develop all of our paid marketing landing pages on Unbounce; it's fast and does the job - we can iterate on different hypotheses fast to grow conversion rates from click->sign up and beyond thus impacting our key funnel metrics. I've also used it with many clients for lead gen from paid marketing campaigns
I've been using CrazyEggs to run heatmaps as part of my research process (e.g. where are your users getting distracted? Where are they not looking where they should be?) to inform hypotheses for A/B tests on multiple websites & brands
I've developed my website and blog using Wordpress modifying both the frontend and backend to suit my needs .. using plugins such as CPT UI to create custom page templates ... and Yoast for SEO
I've been writing SQL queries since I was 14 and now use them almost daily to extract insights from DBs (such as Amazon Redshift)... using tools such as Supermetrics... and I also use it to build web apps and APIs
I've been developing web applications PHP since I was 14 years old and built a social networking site with 150k+ user with it. It is definitely one of the best skills I've learned.

Jake's got an incredible working experience in virtually all the most popular PPC channels yet is still super chilled about it. He truly just wants to help. We went over the Facebook and Adwords strategy for GrowthMentor and through talking to him I realized that I had a high-performing campaign I had totally forgot about a year ago that I could clone and use as a base. Oops!
The biggest gains from mentor calls come from actionable advice to a specific scenario, and Jake is definitely no stranger home runs on those points. I came into this call looking to 1) validate an approach to building out a software marketing interface 2) identify how to build out a list of initial users. Jake provided very insightful advice on both. He provided a thorough overview of the pros and cons of various interfaces I was considering which can save me a lot of time, and additionally, he provided really great suggestions for how to effectively build out that initial list with some tips that will certainly increase conversions. Highly, highly recommend!
An amazing call! I needed some help on monetization strategies for my project. Jake soon came with a great plan, examples, and tools to do it properly. He also showed me lots of examples of why I needed to do it that way. The best thing, he encouraged me to increase my prices ;)

My session with Jake was an incredible one. He took time to understand my business, and gave advice and ideas of things that I can focus on that will help my company grow while in the early stages. His advice is actionable, and that matters a lot to me. His experience and skills in marketing/growth are very apparent when he's talking about ways to grow your business online. I really appreciated this session, and I know I will be booking more. 10/10!
A good mentor can assess where you are at and just provide enough to get you to the next level without overwhelm. This is exactly what I needed when I reached out to Jake. With his knowledge of PPC and marketing strategy could have easily left me in overwhelm but instead he gave me the few key nuggets that I can immediately take action on, test some things, and review my strategy based on the initial results. He helped provide me a framework for how to ease my way into the PPC space. I feel I've just scratched the surface. I highly recommend working with him.
